How do you choose an IT company in Spokane?

Shortlist two or three firms with a staffed Spokane office and a solid base of reviews. Then compare them on four things: how fast they respond, who covers after hours, what the contract commits them to, and how you would leave. Get every answer in writing. Only two of the seven local firms we reviewed publish a response-time number, and only one publishes prices, so most of what matters you will have to ask for.

That's the short answer. The rest of this page covers what to check before you call, the questions to ask, and how to compare the answers.

The decision in one line

You’re choosing who you trust with access to everything: your accounts, your data and your staff’s working day.

  • Every firm covers the basics, so compare the parts that differ: response times, after-hours cover, security depth and contract terms.
  • Get promises in writing. Few firms publish them.
  • Plan how you would leave before you sign.

What to check before you call

You can rule firms in or out from public information in an afternoon. These are the same checks we used to score the IT companies in Spokane.

  • A real local office. Check the address against Google Maps and building listings. We set aside one of the seven firms we reviewed because we could not verify a staffed Spokane office. Four of the seven are locally owned; the others are branches of out-of-state companies.
  • Reviews with volume. A 5.0 from a handful of reviews tells you less than a 4.8 from a hundred. Read the recent ones and look at how the firm handles a complaint.
  • Claims you can verify. Certifications, partner levels, awards and compliance audits should name who issued them. Treat anything unnamed as unverified.
  • Clients like you. Look for case studies or testimonials from businesses your size and in your industry. Clinics have extra requirements; see IT for Spokane medical offices.

Questions to ask every firm

Ask each firm the same questions and compare the answers side by side. Security is where firms differ most, so it is worth checking which Spokane IT companies run 24/7 security monitoring before you meet them.

QuestionA good answerA red flag
How fast do you respond, and is that in writing?A specific time in the contract"It depends", with nothing written down
Who answers after hours and on weekends?A named service, with the hours and cost spelled outVoicemail until the next business day
Which security services do you run yourselves?Clear about what is in-house and which partners they useCan't name the tools or partners
What exactly does the monthly fee cover?A written list of services, users and devicesOne "all-inclusive" line with no detail
Who will we work with day to day?A named account manager or technician teamA different person every time
How do we leave if it isn't working?A notice period and a handover of passwords, documentation and dataA long lock-in or exit fees
Can we talk to two current clients?Yes, ideally businesses like yoursNone available

Contracts, guarantees and leaving

Three of the seven firms we reviewed offer month-to-month terms or no long contracts, and some back that with a guarantee: one offers a 60-day money-back guarantee, another a 90-day satisfaction guarantee. If a firm wants a longer term, ask what you get in return, such as a lower monthly rate.

Leaving is easy to overlook. Before you sign, agree in writing that you will get admin passwords, network documentation and your data back if you leave, and how quickly.

How to decide

  1. Shortlist two or three firms with a verified local office and solid reviews.
  2. Send each the same brief: your number of users and devices, your software and any compliance needs, so the quotes line up.
  3. Ask the questions above and get the answers in writing.
  4. Pick the best written fit, not just the lowest monthly price.

Bottom line

Choose on written commitments, not sales pages. Shortlist firms with a real Spokane office and solid reviews, compare response times, after-hours cover, security and exit terms, and put all of it in the contract.
